Today, flags on official flagpoles at Toronto City Hall and Civic Centres will be flown at half-mast in respect for the 160 unmarked graves discovered near a former residential school on Penelakut Island in British Columbia and those that did not return from these schools. Each of these findings brings new trauma for the Indigenous community and all of Canada. The National Indian Residential School Crisis Line 24-hour line can be reached at 1-866-925-4419. Additional mental-health support and resources for Indigenous people are available here.
