All-Way Stop Controls and Parking Amendments at Waldock Street and Havenway Gate
Transportation Services has conducted a Neighbourhood Safety Audit at the intersection of Waldock Street and Havenway Gate. Based on their findings, they recommend implementing an all-way stop at this intersection to improve safety for both road users and pedestrians, particularly due to the proximity of Eastview Public School, Eastview Park, and the adjacent playground. This recommendation was presented at the Scarborough Community Council meeting on June 27, 2023. The decision was made to install the all-way stop. Additionally, there have been changes to the parking regulations in the vicinity of this intersection:

  1. The existing maximum 30-minute parking regulation on the north side of Waldock Street, between a point 90 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 196 metres further east, has been amended. The revised regulation is now in effect between a point 90 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 43 metres further east.
  2. Council has authorized parking for a maximum period of 30 minutes from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, on the north side of Waldock Street. The authorized parking areas are between a point 170 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 22 metres further east, as well as between a point 213 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 83 metres further east.
  3. Prohibited stopping at all times has been approved on the north side of Waldock Street, between a point 192 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 21 metres further east.
  4. The existing school bus loading zone on the north side of Waldock Street, between a point 37 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 37 metres further east, has been amended. The revised school bus loading zone is now in effect between a point 133 metres east of Galloway Road and a point 37 metres further east.

Kingston and Lawrence Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvement Project
I have received information that the completion of this project has been delayed due to unexpected conflicts with underground infrastructure and required changes to the traffic signal design. These factors have hindered the progress of sidewalk and curb construction by the contractor. The project is now expected to be completed by the end of July, provided there are no further unforeseen issues. Road signage will be updated accordingly.
