Through the pandemic the City has seen&nbsp;<strong>a total of 93,185 cases of COVID-19<\/strong>, of these,&nbsp;<strong>86,245 cases have recovered<\/strong>. To this date, there have been&nbsp;<strong>2,560 COVID-19 deaths<\/strong>&nbsp;in Toronto. Case status data can be found on the City\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/home\/covid-19\/covid-19-latest-city-of-toronto-news\/covid-19-status-of-cases-in-toronto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reporting platform<\/a>. Province of Ontario status of COVID-19 Cases can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/covid-19.ontario.ca\/data\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here.<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Toronto Public Health unit remains under the&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/enhancing-public-health-and-workplace-safety-measures-provincewide-shutdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>shutdown and stay-at-home orders<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;until February 22, 2021<\/strong>&nbsp;It remains imperative that we all respect the COVID-19 orders and stay home as much as possible. When you are outside of your home for essential purposes, remember to wear a mask or face covering, practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene. If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccine please visit the City\u2019s webpage for the latest news and information at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/covid19vaccine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.toronto.ca\/covid19vaccine<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ontario returning 27 Public Health Regions to Strengthened COVID-19 Response Framework.&nbsp;<\/strong>The Ontario government is transitioning 27 public health regions out of the shutdown into a revised and strengthened&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/covid-19-response-framework-keeping-ontario-safe-and-open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open<\/a>&nbsp;as of Today, February 16, 2021. The four remaining public health regions,&nbsp;<strong>Toronto, Peel, York and North Bay Parry Sound will remain in the shutdown and the&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/covid-19.ontario.ca\/zones-and-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>stay-at-home order<\/strong><\/a>and all existing public health and workplace safety measures will continue to apply. For more information please read this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/release\/60339\/ontario-returning-27-public-health-regions-to-strengthened-covid-19-response-framework\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An Extreme Cold Weather Alert (ECWA) is in effect in Toronto today, in anticipation of the cold weather conditions within the next 24 hours.&nbsp;<\/strong>The ECWA will be in effect until further notice. The City has activated its Warming Centres on February 7 and they will remain open during the ECWA. The Warming Centres are located at the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>129 Peter St.<\/li><li>5800 Yonge St.<\/li><li>Exhibition Place, Better Living Centre, 159 Princes\u2019 Blvd.<\/li><li>Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The City asks residents to contact 311 if they see a person experiencing homelessness in need of assistance<\/strong>&nbsp;and the City will dispatch an outreach team to investigate. If the person is in distress or needs immediate assistance, call 911.&nbsp;Throughout the year, 24-hour respite sites provide meals, places to rest, and service referrals at locations across the city. People can call 311 for locations and to connect to Central Intake for a referral. For more information please read this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/news\/extreme-cold-weather-alert-seek-shelter-check-on-loved-ones-59\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>City of Toronto applauds health care partners for completing second vaccination doses for Toronto long-term care residents and staff.&nbsp;<\/strong>As Tuesday, February 16, seven health care partners and the City of Toronto will have offered COVID-19 immunization clinics to administer the second dose of vaccine at all 87 long-term care homes in Toronto. This vaccination milestone, protecting some of the city\u2019s most vulnerable residents, represents a significant achievement in the City\u2019s ongoing response to the pandemic. For more information please read this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/news\/city-of-toronto-applauds-health-care-partners-for-completing-second-vaccination-doses-for-toronto-long-term-care-residents-and-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beginning Tuesday, February 16, 10 of the City of Toronto\u2019s recreation facilities will open to allow individuals with disabilities to access physical therapy<\/strong>&nbsp;while Toronto remains in lockdown. Under provincial regulations, participants will be required to provide a medical certificate issued by a regulated medical practitioner attesting to a disability as defined by the&nbsp;<em>Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act<\/em>. Participants will need to make an appointment in advance and present their medical certificate each time they attend. Visits will be limited to 90 minutes.
