January 19, 2021 Update\u00a0Dear Neighbours,\u00a0I would like to continue to thank everyone for their efforts during these difficult times, I know it has been tough, but we must continue to fight the spread of COVID-19 and keep ourselves and our community safe. It is also important to remember, our mental health is paramount, and that we take care of ourselves and seek support if needed.\u00a0

City of Toronto COVID-19 Case Update:<\/strong>\u00a0(Data as of January 18, 2020)<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0There has been an\u00a0increase of 583 COVID-19 cases<\/strong>\u00a0in the City with\u00a0507 people currently hospitalized.\u00a0<\/strong>Through the pandemic the City has seen a total of\u00a077,872 cases of COVID-19<\/strong>, of these,\u00a067,219 cases have recovered<\/strong>. To this date, there have been\u00a02,211 COVID-19 deaths<\/strong>\u00a0in Toronto. Case status data can be found on\u00a0the City\u2019s reporting platform<\/u><\/a>. Province of Ontario status of COVID-19 Cases can be found\u00a0here.<\/u><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0

A\u00a0<\/strong>Province-wide declaration of emergency\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is in effect.\u00a0<\/strong>Stay home and only go out for essential reasons. Remember when you are outside of your home for essential purposes, be sure to wear a mask or face covering, practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene. Scarborough Health Network offers walk-in COVID-19 testing at Scarborough Village Recreation Centre.\u00a0<\/strong>The Pop-up Assessment Centre will be held at Scarborough Village Recreation Centre, located at 3600 Kingston Rd, from 9am to 6pm every Thursday\u00a0starting January 21, 2021<\/strong>. City of Toronto\u2019s proof-of-concept Immunization Clinic ordered to pause immediately due to vaccine shortage.\u00a0<\/strong>Due to further COVID-19 vaccine supply shortages announced by the Government of Canada today, the Province of Ontario has directed the City of Toronto to immediately pause its proof-of-concept Immunization Clinic at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre at the conclusion of today\u2019s appointments.The Province had originally directed the clinic to pause after January 22 due to vaccine supply.\u00a0People with scheduled appointments for tomorrow Wednesday, January 20, Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22 are being advised now that their appointments are cancelled. City of Toronto and partners start COVID-19 vaccination pilots for people experiencing homelessness and frontline workers in select shelters.\u00a0<\/strong>This pilot is prioritizing shelter sites with the highest population of seniors and people with a significant risk of severe outcome as a result of COVID-19. The purpose of the pilot is to test the clinic model and develop a playbook for broader future roll-out of the vaccine in the City\u2019s shelter system. Toronto Zoo and Terra Lumina have been closed to the public since November 23rd<\/sup>, 2020 until further notice and the $1 million annual cost of food for our 5,000 animals is normally funded through our paid guest parking.
