As much as possible, residents are asked to limit contact with people not in the same household and to remain at home when ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stay safe and follow Public Health advice this Halloween. <\/strong><\/a>Torontonians have been called to take a different approach to Halloween this year to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including recommending against door-to-door trick-or-treating. There are several fun and creative alternative ways to celebrate Halloween this year, including encouraging kids to dress up and participate in virtual activities; organize a Halloween candy hunt with people living in their own household; carving pumpkins and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As more and more leaves begin to fall, <\/strong>when clearing up fallen leaves from your property please keep roadside catch basins clear of leaves and other debris to help water enter the storm sewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n City of Toronto COVID-19 Case Update:<\/strong> (Data as of October 27, 2020)<\/em> There has been an increase of 321 COVID-19 cases in the City of Toronto. Through the pandemic the City of Toronto has seen a total of 27,530 cases of COVID-19<\/strong>, of these, 23,025 cases have recovered<\/strong>, an increase of 251 cases from the day before. There are 140 people currently hospitalized, <\/strong>an increase of 20 cases from the day before. <\/strong>To this date, there have been 1,358 COVID-19 deaths<\/strong> in Toronto, an increase of 5 deaths from the day before. Province of Ontario status of COVID-19 Cases can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n I am happy to inform that after writing a <\/strong>letter to our Toronto Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Eileen de Villa, requesting a flu vaccine clinic to be opened in Scarborough<\/a>, Toronto Public Health is launching a fourth community flu vaccine clinic on Saturday October 31 at Scarborough Town Centre, Exterior Unit D3, located at 410 Progress Avenue<\/strong>. This clinic is operated by appointment only through an online booking system which launched for this clinic this morning at www.tphbookings.ca<\/a>. More information can be read in the news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Getting a flu shot is one of the best ways to protect yourself and others from the flu. It is especially important this year to help protect our healthcare system during the fight against COVID-19. While flu vaccinations are also distributed to local doctors\u2019 offices and participating pharmacies, access to a publicly run clinic plays an important role for people who cannot make use of other vaccination resources. Learn more about the flu online at www.toronto.ca\/flu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n City of Toronto update on City\u2019s measures to combat the resurgence of the virus in Toronto. <\/strong>Mayor John Tory and Toronto\u2019s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa explained the many actions the City and Toronto Public Health continue to undertake to respond to the spread of COVID-19 which include Pop-up COVID-19 testing clinics, Pop-up flu shot clinics, Self-isolate sites, outreach and public education and more supports. More information can be read in the news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Toronto City Council has unanimously approved the extension of the winter patio program for curbside cafes and extended private patios to support local restaurants this winter and into the spring. <\/strong>The successful Caf\u00e9TO program has been extended and will allow some restaurants to occupy sidewalk space along the curbside, to serve customers and generate revenue. In addition, City Council is extending zoning bylaw amendments, through spring 2021, to increase the maximum size of outdoor patios on private property and remove restrictions that might prevent an outdoor patio located in front of buildings (frontage caf\u00e9). Council has also voted to waive all fees and charges for Winter Caf\u00e9TO locations. Restaurant operators interested in creating a winter sidewalk caf\u00e9 must first register.
