I want to thank everyone for your efforts during these difficult times. Let us all remember that this will soon pass as we continue to keep each other safe. Our mental health is paramount, and it is important that we take care of ourselves and seek support if needed.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n As we continue to witness the rise COVID-19 cases in Toronto and across the province, it is very important that we adhere to public health advice to practice physical distancing, wash hands as often as possible and to wear a mask or face covering where mandatory or when physical distancing cannot be maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Be sure to put your social bubbles or circles on hold<\/strong>. It is advised that everyone allow close contact only with people living in their own households and maintain physically distanced from everyone else. For more information please refer to the mandatory physical distancing bylaw<\/a> and the mandatory mask or face covering bylaw<\/a> or www.toronto.ca\/covid-19<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n City of Toronto COVID-19 Case Update<\/strong>:<\/strong> (Data as of October 14, 2020)<\/em> There has been an increase of 254 COVID-19 cases in the City of Toronto. Through the pandemic the City of Toronto has seen a total of 23,572 cases of COVID-19<\/strong>, of these, 19,835 cases have recovered<\/strong>, an increase of 314 cases from the day before. There are 101 people currently hospitalized, <\/strong>an increase of 7 cases from the day before. <\/strong>To this date, there have been 1,330 COVID-19 deaths<\/strong> in Toronto, and increase of 3 deaths from the day before. Case status data can be found on the City\u2019s reporting platform<\/a>. Province of Ontario status of COVID-19 Cases can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Millions across Canada are now using the made-in-Ontario COVID alert app. <\/strong>The Ontario government is working with some of the most influential brands in Canada, including Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, to encourage more people to download the made-in-Ontario COVID Alert app and help protect people across the country from the pandemic. To support businesses large and small, the government is launching a new webpage <\/a>that will provide them with the tools they need to promote the app and build on its success to-date. More information can be read in the news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Six City of Toronto Traffic Agents to be recommended for designation as special constables. <\/strong>The City of Toronto is moving ahead with its Traffic Agents program with six full-time City of Toronto Traffic Agents recommended for designation as special constables at next Thursdays\u2019 Toronto Police Services Board meeting. Once approved and sworn in, these newly hired individuals will be designated as special constables and will be permitted to manage traffic at signalized intersections in Toronto. It\u2019s then expected they will be fully deployed at Toronto intersections before the end of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The City Traffic Agents Program is a congestion management strategy that will place Traffic Agents, employed by the City of Toronto, at key intersections during morning and afternoon peak periods. Traffic volumes in Toronto have been lower than normal during the pandemic, however, City staff continue to observe increasing trends in traffic volumes especially during peak periods. More information can be read in the news release.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Allen Road closed and other partial closures this weekend for maintenance and improvements. <\/strong>The City of Toronto will perform maintenance and improvement activities on Allen Road this weekend from Friday, October 16 at 11 p.m. until Monday, October 19 at 5 a.m. The closure will extend the entire length of the roadway from Sheppard Avenue West to Eglinton Avenue West.Visit the City\u2019s road restrictions map<\/a> to help residents and visitors make travel plans. In addition, the City’s T.O. INview map<\/a> shows planned capital construction work taking place across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your Toronto Zoo received the highest honour from Canada\u2019s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) for education program design. <\/strong>In 2019, the overall environmental sustainability program theme for your Toronto Zoo was #EveryActionCounts. This encompassed a broad number of sustainability programs and included a temporary exhibit called Washed Ashore \u2013 Art To Save The Sea. CAZA has recognized the #EveryActionCounts program for outstanding achievement and innovation in education program design that enhances conservation knowledge and\/or promotes positive conservation attitudes and behaviour. Join a virtual public meeting on October 26 to learn more about the Strategy, ask the project team questions and share your ideas for growing the sport.
