There are many opportunities\nto take part in and look forward to this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting off right, on Wednesday January 8<sup>th<\/sup>, I brought forward a number of items to the Scarborough Community Council, including a request to re-open an item heard in December 2019 where I had asked for the reduction of speed limits, I was able to gain support on my motions to <a href=\"http:\/\/app.toronto.ca\/tmmis\/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2019.SC11.8\">reduce speed limits on specific minor and local arterial roads and collector roads<\/a> in Ward 24 Scarborough-Guildwood. The purpose of this item is to bring awareness and address the very important safety concerns on our roads. <a href=\"http:\/\/app.toronto.ca\/tmmis\/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2019.SC11.8\">SC11.8 \u2013 Scarborough Minor Arterial and Collector Road Speed Limit Reductions as Part of Vision Zero Speed Management Strategy.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/services-payments\/streets-parking-transportation\/road-safety\/vision-zero\/safety-initiatives\/speed-limit-reductions\/\">Speed Management Strategy<\/a> aims to reduce the number of traffic-related injuries and fatalities associated with speeding through short and long-term measures, which includes revised speed limit setting practices, road design improvements, automated speed enforcement and more.  More details about the City of Toronto&#8217;s Speed Management Strategy are in the June <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/legdocs\/mmis\/2019\/ie\/bgrd\/backgroundfile-134964.pdf\">Vision Zero 2.0 &#8211; Road Safety Update<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also part of the City&#8217;s Speed Management Strategy is the\ninstallation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/services-payments\/streets-parking-transportation\/road-safety\/vision-zero\/safety-initiatives\/programs-pilots\/automated-speed-enforcement\/\">Automated\nSpeed Enforcement (ASE)<\/a> cameras and signage on our streets in an effort to\nincrease road safety, reduce speeding and raise public awareness about the need\nto slow down and obey posted speed limits.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, items also adopted were the <a href=\"http:\/\/app.toronto.ca\/tmmis\/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2020.SC12.19\">SC12.19 \u2013 All-Way Stop Control Review \u2013 Dale Avenue and Cromwell Road<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/app.toronto.ca\/tmmis\/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2020.SC12.20\">SC12.20 \u2013 Compulsory Stop Controls \u2013 Botany Hill Road Area<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, I would like to invite you all to my Annual New Year&#8217;s\nCelebration on Saturday, January 11 at the Cedar Ridge Creative Centre (225\nConfederation Dr.). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"347\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/LeveeBlack.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/LeveeBlack.jpg 347w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/LeveeBlack-231x300.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 347px) 100vw, 347px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>All my Best,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul W.
