This mural honours and\nrepresents all the women and caregivers in the community who work hard to\nsupport and maintain a healthy community where children have opportunities to grow\nand thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"684\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Cllr-Speach-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-516\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Cllr-Speach-684x1024.jpg 684w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Cllr-Speach-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Cllr-Speach-768x1151.jpg 768w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Cllr-Speach.jpg 1367w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This mural is a meaningful community centrepiece for residents and neighbours to enjoy. The final design represents the diversity, vibrancy and optimizing of those who live in the Lawrence-Susan buildings and the surrounding communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Susan Street Mural is a powerful statement to the children of\nthis Scarborough community that the world is in their hands, while paying\nhomage to the mothers and caregivers that allow them to grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" src=\"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Paul-with-Group-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Paul-with-Group-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Paul-with-Group-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Paul-with-Group-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Paul-with-Group.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Amir Akbari is a\nGreater Toronto Area (GTA) based Visual Artist, Educator, Community Advocate\nand Entrepreneur driven to create meaningful creative opportunities for young\npeople through introspection, expression &amp; reflection. Akbari\nenlisted supporting street artists, Leyland Adams and Sentooran Kannathasan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Susan Street mural is a part of the StART Partnership Program, a suite of innovative programs designed specifically for streets and public places. StART was initiated in 2012 as part of the City&#8217;s Graffiti Management Plan. StART has been successful in reducing graffiti vandalism and replacing it with vibrant, colourful, community engaged street art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out the StART Toronto map to find other samples of murals\ncreated as part of the StART Toronto programs from 2016 to 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/streetartoronto.ca\/\">here.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Susan Street mural is also the third project by the East\nScarborough Boys and Girls Club that has been supported by the program.
