It\u2019s always a pleasure to meet with residents, hear your questions, and share what\u2019s happening both at City Hall and right here in our community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I also want to welcome our guests this evening:<\/strong><br><strong>\u2022 Our Officers from 43 Division &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Community Updates<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Road Safety &amp; Traffic Calming<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Parking Regulation Changes \u2013 Benleigh Drive<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thank you to residents who provided feedback regarding the proposed \u201cNo Parking\u201d regulations on <strong>Benleigh Drive between McCowan Road and Benroyal Crescent<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The majority of respondents supported the change, which was approved at the April 2025 meeting of Scarborough Community Council.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New signage has been installed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>School Safety Zone \u2013 Bendale Junior Public School<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A School Safety Zone will be implemented in 2025 around <strong>Bendale Jr. P.S.<\/strong> Features include new flashing school zone signs, pavement markings, driver feedback signs, and improved crosswalk markings. Most elements will be installed in 2025, with pavement markings scheduled for completion in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Traffic Calming Initiatives approved at Scarborough Community Council<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple resident requests over the year from traffic calming due to chronic speeding<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lynnbrook Drive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ben Stanton Boulevard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Benshire Boulevard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dolly Varden Boulevard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation is being scheduled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Major Infrastructure &amp; \u2011standard soccer pitch at Scarborough Village Park.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The soccer mini pitches will feature an artificial turf playing surface that is 18 metres by 36 metres in size and will be fully enclosed by triple wire fencing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each pitch will also include stands for spectators, and smart lighting that aims the light down, uses warm colours and has motion sensors to ensure the lights are on when needed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All pitch entrances and seating options will be accessible, ensuring that the facility can accommodate users of all abilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Construction will be completed in May with an opening event anticipated for early June.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is part of Toronto\u2019s preparations as a FIFA World Cup 2026 host city and will bring a worldclass recreational facility to our community \u2014 supporting youth leagues, local programs, and community events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Community Safety &amp; Inspections have identified the need for pavement repairs, as well as curb and sidewalk repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project aims to enhance safety, accessibility, and greenery for all road users.
