{"id":1243,"date":"2026-06-24T16:11:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T21:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/?p=1243"},"modified":"2026-06-24T16:11:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T21:11:34","slug":"guildwood-village-community-association-annual-general-meeting-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulainslie.com\/blog\/2026\/06\/24\/guildwood-village-community-association-annual-general-meeting-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Guildwood Village Community Association Annual General Meeting Comments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GVCA Annual General Meeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Church of the Holy Trinity, 85 Livingston Road<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Good evening, everyone!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is a pleasure to be here as always.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Looking around this room, I am reminded of why our neighborhood is so special, it is the dedicated people who show up, year after year, to ensure our community\u2019s voice is heard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I want to start by sharing some good news.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are in the home stretch of approving the Guildwood Neighbourhood Design Guidelines, they are with the Chief Planner for final refinement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I cannot thank those of you who participated in the consultation process enough; your comments were the foundation of this process, and they ensure that as Toronto grows, the unique character of the Guildwood remains protected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>That commitment to our local identity extends directly to Guild Park and Gardens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working alongside the Friends of Guild Park, the GVCA, and our City staff, we\u2019ve been making steady, thoughtful improvements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may have already noticed the new benches along the West Trail and the additional seating at the Sculptor\u2019s Cabin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are also moving forward with critical heritage conservation, new public washrooms, and a wayfinding plan to make our park more accessible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are currently designing the &#8220;Switchback&#8221; trail replacement, which is slated for construction in 2027.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My goal remains the same: to improve how we use this space while strictly protecting the sensitive natural areas that make the Guild a sanctuary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Of course, stewardship also means standing up for the community when outside proposals don\u2019t align with our vision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I know many of you are deeply concerned about the Provincial Guildwood GO Transit Oriented Community proposal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As it stands, the Province is proposing six residential towers ranging from 30 to 60 storeys.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Because they are using a Ministerial Zoning Order as final approval, the City\u2019s role is only advisory,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>but be assured I have raised significant concerns regarding the height, density, and traffic impacts of this project.
